An assistant professor; in years 1835-1938 the Rector of the Institute for Judaic Studies. At the beginning of occupation he forced his way to Palestine, where on behalf of the Mizrachi party he became a member of the Representation of the Polish Jewry; a member of the Jewish Citizens' Committee of Warsaw; along with Czerniakow and Hartglas went to general Neumann-Neurode to discuss the matter of the decree about the ghetto (November 1939).
