In 1939 he fought near Warsaw in the battalions 'Warsaw Children'(Dzieci Warszawy). During the siege of Warsaw he became famous for conquering a German tank. He was heavily wounded then. Member of Invalids Union 1939. Germans came to his flat at 9 am. He was not there as he went that day to the Arbeitsamt (Employment Office). Germans went there after him, found in the queue, took him out and shot at the street.
