The train leaves. The Rukats knock on Adam's door. They want him to come with them for a Jew 'hunt'. They will take their clothes and money and than turn them over to the Gestapo. Adam feels like strangling his neighbors but calmly replies that his wife has a gall bladder attack and he can't leave her.
