Zofia visits Hania Lanota and Ewa Górska, both members of the Polish Workers' Party (PPR). They had been schoolmates back in Lodz. They have a printing press in the basement of a little house in Mokotów. There they print an underground weekly, "Glos Warszawy". They promised to contact the Peoples' Guard. The negotiations took long because the Peoples' Guard was reluctant to include Jews in its ranks, even though it needed new members.
