A Jew, who Wladka met in a village near Siedlce: he hid together with his two children in a cottage on a hill, a local peasant Marcin helped him. One day the village council chair ordered the children to leave the hideout. The desperate father did not know what happened to them. Polish people knew that they were shot by the Germans, but they did not want to tell Berek about it.
