At the Three Crosses Square at 11:45 Rolf Rechter with his translator was shot. He was a close friend of Sandra Brand. The Germans announced that he was shot by the Polish underground. In fact he co-operated with and worked for the Polish resistant movement and was successfully involved in rescuing the Jews. The Germans as a revenge sentenced 20 Poles to be executed on 3 August at 11:45 at this square.
