Chaim Hasenfuss; Dwa lata wojny (przeżycia i refleksje)Two Years of the War (Experiences and Reflections). Jews' Diaries. Sygn. 302/157; Jewish Historical Institute Archives. The author collected all his notes written between 1939 and 1941 in the form of a diary in Polish and English ('Diary') accompanied by short articles. The diary is a collection of notes describing the siege of Warsaw, the beginning of the occupation (e.g. notes about forced labour) and life in the Warsaw ghetto. The 'Diary' is an abbreviated version of the diary written in English. In the diary there are reflections on the origin of Poland's downfall (criticism of pre-war Polish politics) and on being an eye witness. The diary includes: a summary of Heinrich Heine's speech about the political situation of Germans, Poles and Jews, recollections of persecutions of Jews in various epochs, reflections on Ludendorff (the leading commander of the German army) and his attitude towards Jews and Poland, reflections on dictatorship and dictators and the demographic situation of France in 1939 in the light of Jean Giraudoux book 'Pleins Pouvoirs'. Published: Pamietniki z getta warszawskiego (Warsaw Ghetto Diaries), Warsaw 1939, pp. 35-40 (fragment).
