One of the commanders of the Jewish Fighting Organization (ZOB). He fought in the central ghetto, was in command of nine units. He fought as a one of the last, until 16 April 1943. Combat groups under command of Zechariasz Arstein and Yosef Farber, together with other Jews from the ghetto, continued to fight.
