Before the war was a merchant and a social activist in the circles supporting assimilation. A Judenrat member. Collaborated with the Jewish Institute and Jewish philanthropic institutions. In the Warsaw Ghetto he became the head of the Centos (the Central Organization for Orphan Care). Was a Judenrat member and a close friend of Czerniakow and a member of the National Presidium of the Jewish Social Self-Help (ZSS). For some time he was the head of the Department of Postal Services [of the Judenrat] in the ghetto. Died in the ghetto in Junuary 1942.
