Madame Sh - writes Mary Berg about her. Wife of the Great Rabbi of Warsaw. She was interned at Pawiak in July 1942. She was in the group of American citizens who were supposed to be exchanged for German POWs. On 30 October 1942, because of a complex eye disease, she was released from Pawiak (together with her daughter and her three children) and moved to the 'Aryan side'. She came back to Pawiak ca. 17 December 1942, because of the approaching date of the prisoners' departure to the West.
