The author lived in his flat for some time after the ghetto had been established. They used to prepare together the underground Bund bulletins for printing. He was hiding with his wife and son at Birnbaums' place in Nowolipki Street. His wife and son were killed by Ukrainians during the First Action, Baruch survived, he was wounded.

The whole family survived on the 'Aryan side' thanks to Juliana Larkisz.
