The chairman of the Judenrat in Lodz. He was called 'Chaim the first'. He instilled the Jews in Lodz that he is the only person they can believe in; he created a new currency, the 'chaims', new public holidays on the day of his and his wife's birthdays. He created a system of total obedience and control.
(2)The chairman of the Judenrat in Lodz, organisation 'created by the most unhappy prisoners' in the Lodz ghetto.
(3)He managed the ghetto in Lodz. His policy was based on collecting valuables, fur coats and foreign currency from the rich, and buying for this money food for the poor. This led to eliminating differences between the rich and the poor.
