During the blockade of the tenement house in Gesia Street she hid under the bed. An Ukrainian pulled her out, but then released her. With her mother they hid in a basement at Muranowska Street No. 38, where there already hid two other Jews. The four of them starved. A Polish policeman, from the station at the corner of Dzika and Niska Street, brought them bread and water. In late autumn of 1942 Sabinka worked as domestic help for Stefania Gliksbergowa.
