for many years before the war she worked as "the German woman" to children at Stefan Chaskielewicz's cousin's in-laws. She wasn't German but Silesian. In the house at Sienna Street she was considered more of an ethnic German. She gave shelter to her former employers there, her cousin Stefan moved in as well and later on the cousin's brother, a lawyer, who divorced his wife during the war. He promised Jadwiga to marry her, but he died just before liberation found by the Germans
