"Diaries of Jews. Sygn. 302/110; in the Archives of the Jewish Historical Institute, author: Jakub N.; title: no title Diaries of Jews. Sygn. 302/110; in the Archives of the Jewish Historical Institute, author: Jakub N.; title: no title
The description of the author’s war experiences begins with the Polish-German War of 1939 (an escape from Warsaw and return). The author moved from the ghetto to the “Aryan side,” moved in with Julia Rogowinska in Praga, busied himself with trade. Since 16 May 1943, he was in hiding and avoided leaving the flat (he left Warsaw on a number of occasions in order to smuggle things). The part of the diary describing the years 1943 and 1944 contains mainly news about war taken from newspapers, rumours (for example about Polish underground organisations), occasional rhymes and information about Julia’s family. The diary ends in mid-sentence of the description of the situation in Warsaw at the end of July and the beginning of August 1944. The author, whose surname is unknown, was a bookkeeper, died during the Warsaw Uprising. Julia Rogowinska gave the diary to the Jewish Historical Institute.
