Krystyna Lewiasz's parents were rich; when the war broke out they didn't think about leaving Poland (they thought they would be able to survive the occupation thanks to their wealth); they lived in their own house at Muranowska Street No.12 (since October 1940 in the very centre of the ghetto), where they built a hideout equipped with the most necessary supplies; thanks to bribes Krystyna's father got a job as a brigadier in a fur shop at the Grzybowski Square; in 1943 they bribed the German guards in the area from Okopowa Street to the Grzybowski Square and the father carried his daughter out of the ghetto in a sack and gave her over to the caretakers of one of the houses at Zajecza Street No. 9; probably killed in Treblinka.
