From 1930, he lived with his mother, a teacher of CISzO (Central Jewish School Organization) school in Warsaw, at Nowolipki Street No. 20. He was one of the most talented students of the Laor Gymnasium (junior high school) and an active member of Skiff. He was in charge of a Bund combat unit in the uprising in the central ghetto. On 27 April, gravely wounded, he barricaded with his own body the entrance to the bunker at Mila Street No. 29, which enabled retreat to the rest of the fighters.
