Danka was raised in Powisle. Her mother disappeared soon after she was born. Her father had gone blind and her stepmother usually ended the day by beating him up. Danka's stepmother raised her together with two of her own children. She wasn't a good mother.
Danka receive only an elementary-school education. When she was 16-years-old she met a French diplomat-they were going to get married. Unfortunately, she fell in love with a captain of the Polish police, Bednarek. He was already married and had kids, but their affair went on for years, until the war broke out.
She had syphilis. She worked in a hospital in Lodz, than in a factory. She married a Jew named Bernard. They lived in poverty. they had a daughter-Barbara. -
