    An engineer, the author's father.

    Was a legionary during the First World War. A mechanical engineer. Organised refugee shelters in the ghetto, his own house at Stawki Street No. 9 was at the refugees' disposal. Deputy president of the ZTOS (Jewish Social Welfare Association), chairman of the House Committee at Leszno Street No. 15, where he lived with his daughter and wife. During the First Action in Brauer's shop. In the second half of January they sent their daughter to a place outside the ghetto. They were to leave the ghetto after Easter. They did not manage to do that. The wife was killed, Bryskier was deported to Majdanek, from where he escaped after a couple of months. Returned to Warsaw, where he was hiding in a flat in Czerniakowska Street until May 1944. It was there that he was writing his diary. Moved to Praga, where his daughter was. After the liberation in Lublin in the PKWN (Polish Committee of National Liberation), later on he was the head of the Chemical Department of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Provisional Government. Died of angina pectoris contracted during the war.
