When the war began he was six. At the age of eight he looked after his six-year-old sister like an adult. In January 1943 together with his sister Rozia he got to a new orphanage, that was supposed to be opened in Zamenhoffa Street. On 18 January 1943 Germans closed the ghetto down and the Second Action began. Children were loaded into train wagons and sent to Treblinka.
