  • In December 1941 the Germans built in Treblinka a prison camp which they named Treblinka I. In the spring of 1942 they set up an additional camp called Treblinka II. As distinct from Treblinka I, where the prisoners death was regarded as a 'by-product', Treblinka II was designed for the mass destruction of its inmates.
